Helping the Library

Now that we are a city library our total support depends on our community. The City of Riddle has been extremely supportive by providing the building, utilities, maintenance, and insurance. We have applied for and received some grant funding for specific needs, but grants will not pay for many of the services we wish to provide the community. In our first year after reopening, many have donated to buy new books, help pay our library manager a salary and get us operational. Private donations, large and small have provided most of our funding and all are equally appreciated. There is a donation box in the library, you can participate in our fundraisers or contribute through the website. We are a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Book Donations

Another way you can contribute to our library is to donate books. We accept either hardback or paperback books that are in good condition. If the titles do not fit our catalog needs they can be put into our book and bake sale events to raise money to buy new books, or to fund children's events and programming. Please join us a we work together toward this goal.

Anyone can volunteer.  There are many ways you can serve.  You can make a difference. What does it mean to serve? How should you choose a volunteer opportunity?  Our online volunteer form lists only a few opportunities to help your library.

Volunteering for People Under 18

If you are under eighteen and would like to volunteer, come to the library, talk to our volunteers.  Ask questions. Ask if they enjoy what they are doing. Ask about volunteer opportunities for young people.  Many of the events planned for this year will excite you.

We can help you complete some of your community service hours while you learn how the library operates, from getting books from the book drop, to shelving books, to helping patrons find what they are looking for.

Come to the library and ask for an application or you can fill out the online form.

Volunteering in other ways

There are other ways to volunteer. If you are unable to work in the library, we have short term projects that can be completed by you at home. Ask how you may be involved.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with the Riddle City Library.  Members of our community who believe in the importance of books, education and libraries for people of all ages step forward to gift us with their time, dedication, and enthusiasm
